Gene and Cell Research studies supported by the Fund in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine seek to understand how DNA damage enchances the likelihood of cancer, how epigenetic events influence the onset of disease, how key control kinases stimulate molecular circuits leading to cancer, how genetic events regulate survival of cells and tissues, how stem cell failure results in tissue failure, and how control circuits control muscle cell contraction - to name a few topics of study.
The GENECureFUND is about using research knowledge to improve human health including the development of drugs and therapies to treat cancer, skin disease, cardiac dysfunction, muscle disease, and genetic disorders.
